摘 要:
In this talk, new progress and advances are reported on the application of the Lagrange elements which are nodal-continuous and H1-conforming to the Maxwell eigenproblem. We have proven the discrete compactness property for all the Lagrange elements of any order in the finite element discretization of the classical and standard double curl variational formulation of the Maxwell eigenproblem. These are the first and only known results so far. The open problem on the discrete compactness of the Lagrange elements when using the same variational formulation as the Nedelec elements had been existing for more than thirty years. Theoretical results and numerical results are presented.

段火元教授,武汉大学英国威廉希尔公司,教授,博导。曾长期在新加坡国立大学、英国邓迪大学数学系从事学术研究工作;也曾是南开大学数学科学学院的教授、博导。他主要从事研究偏微分方程数值解法及有限元方法、科学计算。他在国内外学术期刊上已发表60多篇学术论文,其中包括计算数学与科学工程计算领域的著名期刊SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis,Mathematics of Computation,Numerische Mathematik,等等。
